U.S. Presidential Adviser: “Berlin Principles” Represent Commitment to Ending War in Sudan

Washington – Mashawir

Massad Boulos, adviser to the U.S. president on Arab and African affairs, announced the “Berlin Principles” for Sudan as part of an unprecedented international coalition.

The alliance includes the African Union, European Union, United Nations, and host countries such as France, Germany, United Kingdom, and the United States. It also brings together Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Sudan, Switzerland, Chad, Turkey, Uganda, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and the League of Arab States.

This coalition delivered a clear and unified message stressing the urgent need to end the war in Sudan immediately, backed by strong international support for concrete steps. These include an immediate humanitarian truce followed by a ceasefire, full access and funding for humanitarian aid, acknowledgment that there is no military solution, ending all forms of external military support, and advancing a negotiated peace process through inclusive national dialogue led by civil society, ultimately transitioning to a civilian government.

Massad Boulos emphasized that the Berlin Principles are not merely statements, but reflect a firm collective commitment to ending the war and supporting a peaceful future for Sudan.
