Sudanese Political Forces Coordinate for Dialogue in Vienna to Discuss Ending the War

Khartoum – Mashawir

Sudanese political forces are expected to hold a meeting in the Austrian capital, Vienna, later this May to discuss ways to end the war and bring closer differing viewpoints.

Despite the armed conflict entering its fourth year, political stagnation continues to dominate the Sudanese landscape.

Observers stress the importance of calling for a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue that excludes no one, describing it as the key way out of the current crisis facing the country.

Mubarak Al-Fadil Al-Mahdi, leader of the Umma Party, affirmed that several obstacles are hindering Sudanese dialogue. Some of these stem from divisions among political forces and the fluid, unstable nature of the political scene, which has in turn produced nominal parties and movements represented by individuals who are susceptible to influence from authorities in Port Sudan.
