The U.S. Department of State has urged its citizens in Sudan to seek shelter and remain there until further notice, following reported attacks on Khartoum International Airport, according to a statement published on the department’s website.
The statement said: “The U.S. Department of State has received reports of multiple explosions at Khartoum International Airport. Other facilities may also have been affected. Seek secure shelter and monitor our updates for further instructions.”
The State Department also confirmed that the United States is unable to provide assistance to its citizens currently in Sudan, as the U.S. Embassy in the country has suspended operations since April 2023.
