UNICEF Delivers Humanitarian Aid to Children in North Darfur

North Darfur – Mashawir

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Thursday that it had delivered supplies to children and families in Um Baru, North Darfur State in western Sudan, after crossing multiple conflict lines.

UNICEF expected around 15,160 people to benefit from the supplies, noting that the situation in North Darfur is among the most dangerous in Sudan.

The statement explained that the areas of Um Baru, Karnoi, and Tina are facing near-siege conditions due to escalating fighting, while ongoing violence and insecurity are exposing children to protection risks, including killing, injury, family separation, and increasing threats of exploitation and abuse.

UNICEF also reported that children in Um Baru are suffering from severe shortages of safe drinking water, healthcare, and nutrition, alongside record levels of malnutrition caused by food insecurity, displacement, and the collapse of basic services.
