Hamdok Discusses Ways to End the War in Sudan with UN Envoy

Former Sudanese Prime Minister and head of the Civil Democratic Alliance of the Forces of the Revolution “Somoud,” Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, met on Thursday with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy, Pekka Haavisto.

Hamdok and Haavisto discussed ongoing efforts to find a solution to the conflict in Sudan and ways to stop the bloodshed in the country.

Hamdok said: “I expressed my appreciation for Mr. Haavisto’s inclusive approach in engaging with all stakeholders.”

He added: “We presented our detailed vision for ending the war and returning to the path of civilian democratic transition.”

He further stated: “We agreed on the necessity of accelerating efforts to silence the guns and put an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.”
