US Secretary of State: Sudan Has Become a Proxy War Battleground

New York – Mashawir

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that “Sudan has turned into an arena for proxy conflicts between countries backing rival fighting parties.”

He noted that “other countries have allowed their territories to be used for arms shipments.”

Rubio added that Washington is focusing on securing a humanitarian ceasefire that would allow the establishment of safe zones for aid distribution amid what he described as one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

He stressed that the ultimate solution lies in pushing the countries supporting the warring sides toward a comprehensive peace agreement.

He also pointed out that the Quad process continues its daily engagement through its Africa office and its Special Envoy, Steph Leeds.
