“Somoud” Alliance Warns of Plans Aimed at Dividing Sudan
Kampala – Mashawir
The Civil Democratic Alliance of the Forces of the Revolution, known as Somoud, warned of the accelerating fragmentation of Sudan amid a de facto division of the country into zones controlled by the warring parties.
The alliance said that “hate speech and racist incitement are fueling the disintegration of the social fabric, sowing discord, and deepening divisions among the country’s various communities.”
The coalition affirmed its absolute rejection of all plans to divide Sudan, regardless of their source or motivations.
It explained that “the only way out of the cycle of conflicts and wars is through peaceful solutions that initiate a genuine dialogue leading to the formulation of a new social contract capable of uniting the country’s culturally, socially, and religiously diverse components.”
The alliance also renewed its call for an immediate, comprehensive, and unconditional ceasefire across the country, with effective regional and international monitoring mechanisms to prevent renewed violence.
It further stressed the need to launch a political process led and owned by Sudanese civilians, linking the tracks of ceasefire efforts, humanitarian assistance, and political dialogue without separating these paths from one another.
