Emergency Lawyers: RSF Arrests Civilians in West Kordofan and Continues Enforced Disappearances

Kampala – Mashawir

The “Emergency Lawyers” group, which documents war violations in Sudan, accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of arresting the civilians Al-Fatih Abdelrahman Abdullah Wada Allah and Al-Sadiq Mohamed Saleh Abdullah Wada Allah in the city of Ghubaysh, West Kordofan State, on May 20, as part of a wide arrest campaign targeting dozens of civilians following a drone attack that struck Ghubaysh market on May 19.

The rights group stated that the detainees are facing accusations of passing coordinates and collaborating with the army.

It noted that Al-Fatih Abdelrahman had previously been assaulted by RSF forces after their takeover of the city in August 2024, raising concerns about his health and safety amid his ongoing enforced disappearance.

The group added that the arrests come within the context of what it described as ongoing violations against civilians in areas under RSF control, including detention without legal procedures, enforced disappearances, and mistreatment inside detention centers.

The group called for the immediate disclosure of the detainees’ whereabouts, allowing their families to communicate with them, the release of all arbitrarily detained civilians, and an end to arrest campaigns targeting civilians.
