Indiscriminate Shelling Forces Dozens of Families to Flee Dilling
Dilling – Mashawir
Local residents told Mashawir that waves of displacement from the city of Dilling in South Kordofan State have intensified in recent days due to escalating indiscriminate shelling with heavy artillery and drones targeting the city by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).
Residents said the attacks have resulted in civilian deaths and injuries, in addition to widespread destruction of property.
They added that dozens of families gather daily at cargo truck stations in an attempt to travel to the Habila area and from there to safer towns and cities in North Kordofan, White Nile State, and the capital, Khartoum, fleeing the random shelling and fearing possible closure of the roads leading out of the city.
According to residents, the Sudanese army recently regained control of areas south and east of Dilling and reopened roads leading to the city, particularly those connecting Dilling with Habila, Kartala, and Al-Rahad, which has helped facilitate the movement of displaced residents toward other destinations.
For nearly two years, Dilling has witnessed active military confrontations between the Sudanese army and its allies on one side, and an alliance of the RSF and SPLM-N on the other, resulting in severe restrictions on civilian movement into and out of the city.
