The drinking water crisis in Omdurman has worsened to unprecedented levels, with residents facing daily hardships in their efforts to secure water.
Residents of the Dar Al Salam area in western Omdurman told Mashawir that large numbers of people line up every day for hours in order to obtain drinking water.
They added that fears of disease outbreaks are increasing, particularly as temperatures have risen to around 50°C.
Abdel Moneim, a resident of the western neighborhoods, said that water often reaches the area only once a week and is usually depleted within just two days because of the high population density and increased consumption.
He added that many families are unable to afford the cost of purchasing water, forcing women and children to travel long distances to collect and transport it.
