Warnings of Possible Collapse of Displacement Camps in Darfur as Rainy Season Begins

North Darfur – Mashawir

The Emergency Response Room in Shangal Tobaya, North Darfur State, has warned of the potential collapse of displacement camps constructed from local materials as the rainy season begins.

In a statement, the group said that children, women, and elderly people are facing a real danger due to living in these fragile and deteriorating shelters.

It stressed that the structures are unlikely to withstand the strong winds and heavy rainfall associated with the rainy season, particularly as the region has already been experiencing intense rains in recent days.

The Emergency Response Room issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to local, regional, and international organizations, calling for immediate intervention to protect lives and prevent a worsening humanitarian crisis.
