The United Nations has warned of a further deterioration in humanitarian conditions in Sudan with the onset of the rainy season. A severe shortage of water and sanitation services is affecting approximately 1.1 million people in South Darfur, increasing the risk of cholera and other waterborne diseases, despite ongoing efforts by local responders to contain disease outbreaks in several states.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) expressed deep concern over the continued drone strikes and insecurity affecting civilians and hindering humanitarian access.
According to UN reports, recent drone attacks in the Kordofan region have killed at least 15 civilians, injured others, and caused damage to civilian infrastructure, including key bridges essential for the movement of civilians and humanitarian aid in South Kordofan and West Darfur. :::
