Dust Storm Sweeps Across Sudanese Cities as Authorities Urge Drivers to Exercise Caution

Omdurman – Mashawir

Sudan’s General Traffic Directorate has urged all drivers and road users to exercise caution amid strong dust-laden winds and reduced visibility affecting several national highways.

The directorate said the warning covers roads in Khartoum, Al Jazirah, River Nile, southern Northern State, and North Kordofan, based on alerts issued by the Sudan Meteorological Authority.

It stressed the importance of reducing speed, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, using appropriate lights while driving, and stopping immediately in a safe location if visibility becomes severely impaired.

A heavy dust storm swept through Kassala State on Sunday, significantly reducing horizontal visibility.

Dust storms are among the seasonal weather phenomena that regularly affect parts of Sudan. However, the intensity of the current storm has prompted authorities to issue warnings urging residents and motorists to take precautionary measures and remain vigilant.
