Massad Boulos in Cairo Seeking Solutions to the Sudanese Crisis

Cairo – Mashawir

Amid escalating military confrontations on the ground in Sudan, the Egyptian capital, Cairo, is hosting a series of diplomatic meetings attended by Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, to discuss regional developments and efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held talks on Saturday with Boulos, to be followed by a quadrilateral meeting involving the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey, alongside the senior U.S. presidential adviser. The discussions will focus on developments in the region and the latest updates regarding the Sudanese crisis, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The diplomatic consultations in Cairo come at a time when the situation on the ground in Sudan is witnessing renewed military escalation, particularly in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State.

According to experts, the Cairo meetings are seen as a potential opportunity to break the deadlock in the Sudanese crisis, amid the absence of any clear political horizon for ending the war that has been ongoing since April 2023.
