MSF Warns Rainy Season Increases Disease Risk in Sudan’s Blue Nile Region

Blue Nile – Mashawir

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has warned that the humanitarian situation in Sudan’s Blue Nile Region is deteriorating rapidly.

The organization said that declining humanitarian funding and the resurgence of conflict have further weakened an already fragile healthcare system.

MSF noted that the approaching rainy season is expected to hinder access to healthcare services while increasing the risk of waterborne diseases.

The organization warned that unless the humanitarian response is significantly expanded, conditions are likely to deteriorate further in the coming months.

It added that more than 100,000 displaced people and returnees are currently living at the Al Karama site on the outskirts of Damazin, the capital of the Blue Nile Region.
