European Union Reaffirms Support for Peace and Civilian Transition in Sudan
Khartoum – Mashawir
The European Union Delegation to Sudan announced on Thursday that it had held a meeting with representatives of the private sector to discuss its role in reconstruction and state-building, alongside ongoing efforts to achieve peace and a civilian-led transition as a pathway toward normalizing relations.
The delegation said the meeting marks the beginning of a series of discussions to be held in different capitals, focusing on the role of Sudan’s private sector in reconstruction, development, state-building, promoting stability, and creating employment opportunities for Sudanese youth.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires, Yassin Hisham Taqfa, said that international and regional efforts are underway to advance peace and a civilian transition in Sudan, describing both as essential prerequisites for the normalization of relations.
He stressed that the continuation of the war represents a waste of the Sudanese people’s resources, adding that the collapse of the country, its state institutions, and its national unity constitutes a red line for the European Union.
