Massad Boulos: United States Committed to Ending the Conflict in Sudan

Washington – Mashawir

Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for African and Arab Affairs, said that the United States remains committed to ending the conflict in Sudan.

He stated that “there is a clear path to peace in Sudan, beginning with a nationwide ceasefire.”

Boulos accused both parties to the conflict of prolonging the war, saying that attacks by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have inflicted severe damage on humanitarian infrastructure.

He also revealed that the United States has imposed new sanctions on Sudan over its use of chemical weapons, violations of international law, and failure to comply with its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention.

According to Boulos, the sanctions target eight individuals and entities linked to procurement and recruitment networks that have enabled both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to escalate the fighting.
