Sudan Extends Opening of Adré Border Crossing for Humanitarian Aid

Port Sudan – Mashawir

The Sudanese government has announced a three-month extension of the opening of the Adré border crossing on the Chad-Sudan border to allow the entry of humanitarian assistance delivered by international relief organizations.

According to the announcement, the crossing will remain open from July 1, 2026, until September 30, 2026.

Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the decision reflects the government’s continued commitment to ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to people affected by the conflict across all parts of Sudan.

The Adré border crossing is one of the most important border crossings between Sudan and Chad. Located approximately 289 kilometers from El Geneina, it is particularly significant for humanitarian operations in Darfur, serving as a strategic route for aid delivery as well as cross-border trade between the two countries. The crossing is named after the Chadian border town of Adré, which lies opposite Sudan’s West Darfur State.
