Sudanese Displaced Families Living Without Shelter or Food in Kosti

Kosti – Mashawir

Hundreds of displaced Sudanese families are facing dire humanitarian conditions at the Goz Al Salam Camp in Kosti, White Nile State, where many are living without tents to shelter themselves and their children.

Maryam Issa said her family has been staying at Goz Al Salam Camp for more than a month. Despite promises that assistance and basic services would be provided, nothing has materialized. She explained that neither she nor her children have a tent to sleep in.

She added that she is sometimes forced to take her children to neighbors who have tents, noting that they also have no money.

Another displaced woman, Fatima Jabara, described the harsh conditions they are enduring. She said her family of ten has no tent, but added that the camp is still safer than the place they fled, where shelling, armed clashes, and drones were constantly overhead.

A third displaced woman, Suhair Hussein, spoke of the severe hardships in the camp. She said she arrived about three months ago from the city of Dilling in South Kordofan State, only to face major difficulties.

She explained that her family has suffered from thirst, hunger, extreme heat, and inadequate healthcare services, emphasizing that they also have no tent for shelter.

One of the camp coordinators said that around 800 families at Goz Al Salam Camp urgently require shelter and food. He appealed to both international and local humanitarian organizations to provide the assistance and essential services the displaced families desperately need.
