Massad Boulos: We Remain Committed to Achieving Lasting Peace that Preserves Sudan’s Unity and Sovereignty

Washington – Mashawir

Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President on African and Arab Affairs, said: “I am very pleased to hear the Sudanese representative confirm that the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, appears to have accepted—or at least not rejected—the latest peace proposal.”

He added: “This initiative was recently developed through close consultations with Sudan’s Foreign Minister and other members of the Sovereignty Council, in coordination with our Egyptian partners, and it has also been welcomed by our Saudi partners.”

Boulos continued: “We reaffirm our readiness, together with our partners, to announce this peace initiative and move forward with its implementation.”

He stressed: “The United States’ sole interest is to help bring an end to the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.”

He further noted: “To that end, the United States has provided more than US$3 billion in humanitarian assistance since the conflict began, making it the largest humanitarian donor supporting the response to the crisis in Sudan.”

He concluded: “We remain committed to working with all partners to achieve a lasting peace that preserves Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”
