Cholera Ravages Villages in North Kordofan: Over 400 Infections and 21 Deaths

North Kordofan – Mashawir

Medical sources reported on Saturday that the death toll from the cholera outbreak in the Al Mazroub area of North Kordofan State has risen to 21.

The sources said that more than 400 people have been infected since the disease began spreading in early June, amid a severe shortage of intravenous fluids, medicines, and essential medical supplies.

Several areas across North and West Kordofan have been affected by the cholera outbreak, particularly the Foga area in An Nuhud locality, where at least 80 people have died in recent weeks before the disease spread to other areas, including Al Mazroub in North Kordofan.

Doctors said the available supplies of intravenous fluids and medicines are insufficient to meet the growing demand, despite ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health and local community members to contain the spread of the disease.
