International Criminal Court Hears Testimonies from Communities Affected by the Situation in Darfur

The Hague – Mashaweer

The International Criminal Court (ICC) said that its Deputy Prosecutor, Nazhat Shameem Khan, met with communities affected by the situation in Darfur.

The Court stated that Khan listened to victims’ experiences and their perspectives on the ongoing conflict and its impact on their lives.

The ICC also emphasized that the Darfur situation remains one of the Office of the Prosecutor’s highest investigative priorities.

It added that during visits to the Farshana and Goz Beida refugee camps, Khan spoke directly with victims and explained that the Court’s cases are built on the testimonies and accounts of the people of Darfur.

The Court further noted that the evidence collected reflects the scale of the alleged crimes, including persecution against the people of Darfur and widespread conflict-related sexual violence committed against victims.
