25 Killed in Drone Strikes Targeting Civilian Vehicles in Sudan
Kordofan – Mashaweer
The Sudan Doctors Network announced on Wednesday that 10 people, including five women, were killed after a drone attack allegedly carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted them on the Export Road west of Omdurman.
In a press statement, the Network said that the victims, including five women from the same family, were travelling to attend a wedding when their civilian vehicle was struck by an RSF drone. The vehicle was completely burned, killing everyone on board.
The Network stressed that targeting civilians and civilian means of transport constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, noting that the strike appeared to have been deliberate, as it was carried out using a guided drone rather than through indiscriminate fire. It said this reflects a systematic pattern of attacks against civilians in the area.
Earlier, the Emergency Lawyers Group reported that, on Monday, a drone struck a civilian vehicle carrying people to a wedding in the town of Al-Sha’tout, east of Jabra Al-Sheikh locality in North Kordofan State, killing 13 civilians, including five women.
The group also stated that, on Tuesday morning, another drone targeted a civilian vehicle transporting water near a water source in the Hamrat Al-Sheikh area, killing two people.
