Initiatives to Strengthen Humanitarian Response in Displacement Camps in Northern Sudan

Dongola – Mashaweer

National and international organizations, in coordination with the relevant authorities, have discussed preparations for implementing a multi-purpose cash assistance project targeting displaced families in shelter camps across Northern State. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the humanitarian response and improve the living conditions of internally displaced people (IDPs).

The preparations included reviewing beneficiary lists within the camps to ensure that cash assistance reaches the most vulnerable households in accordance with established humanitarian criteria. Discussions also covered the technical and administrative arrangements for the cash distribution process, as well as strengthening coordination with local authorities and camp administrations to ensure the project is implemented in an organized and effective manner.

Speaking to Mashaweer, Najlaa Al-Hadi, Food Security Representative of Jismar Organization, the national implementing partner, said:

> “Multi-purpose cash assistance is one of the most effective humanitarian response tools because it provides displaced families with the flexibility to meet their essential needs according to their own priorities, thereby enhancing their ability to cope with displacement and improve their living conditions.”

Meanwhile, Mudathir Sharif, a representative of the Humanitarian Aid Commission, emphasized to Mashaweer the importance of the project in supporting displaced people living in shelter camps.

He noted that the Commission is committed to strengthening coordination with humanitarian partners to ensure that interventions are implemented in line with actual needs, while reaffirming its commitment to providing the necessary administrative support to ensure the project’s success and enhance the humanitarian response in Northern State.
