The Kasab Displacement Camp Emergency Response Room in Kutum locality, North Darfur State, celebrated the graduation of the first and second cohorts of its First Aid and Home Nursing Program, organized by the Dar Al-Shifa Training and Qualification Center at Midan Center (A). The initiative aims to strengthen community capacity and improve the readiness of volunteers to respond to health needs within the camp.
A total of 180 trainees graduated from the program, marking an important step in investing in local community capacity. Participants acquired essential first aid and home nursing skills, enabling them to support health services and respond to emergency medical cases amid the difficult humanitarian conditions facing displaced people.
Mohamed Abdel Majeed, a representative of the Kasab Emergency Response Room, told Mashaweer that the Emergency Response Room will continue supporting the Dar Al-Shifa Training and Qualification Center and strengthening cooperation to implement additional training programs that build the capacities of displaced communities.
He emphasized that investing in the training of community-based volunteers is one of the most important pillars of improving the humanitarian response within the camp.
For her part, graduate Salma Mohamedin told Mashaweer that the program enabled participants to gain practical knowledge and skills in providing first aid and responding to medical emergencies.
She expressed hope that she would be able to use what she learned to serve displaced people and assist those in need within the camp, particularly in light of the limited healthcare services and the growing demand for qualified volunteers.
