The Dar Hamar Emergency Room stated that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continue to commit violations against civilians in the state. It accused the group of seizing a herd of camels from the Umm Labana area in the rural locality of Al Khowi, and later demanding 80 million Sudanese pounds (approximately US$83,000) from the owners in exchange for returning the animals.
According to the Emergency Room’s statement, the force responsible for confiscating the camels informed their owners that the herd would be permanently seized if the demanded ransom was not paid.
The Kordofan and Darfur regions have witnessed an escalation in looting and attacks amid ongoing fighting and armed confrontations, worsening humanitarian conditions, and the displacement of thousands of families from their homes.
Concerns are growing that incidents of theft and looting will continue to increase in the coming period, extending to private homes as well as public and private property.
