The Mellit Emergency Room – Western Sector in North Darfur State has implemented a project to distribute emergency women’s dignity kits to the most vulnerable women and girls. The initiative is supported by the North Darfur Emergency Rooms Coordination Council as part of humanitarian efforts to meet the basic needs of displaced women and safeguard their dignity in displacement shelters and community gathering sites.
Women’s rights activist Salma Al-Nour told Mashaweer that providing women’s dignity kits is an essential response to needs that are often overlooked during humanitarian crises.
She stressed that women and girls face significant challenges in accessing personal hygiene supplies, particularly under conditions of displacement and limited resources.
She added that such interventions help protect women’s health while enhancing their sense of dignity and personal safety.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Abdel Salam, a member of the North Darfur Emergency Rooms Coordination Council, told Mashaweer that the project is part of a broader series of humanitarian interventions being implemented by the council in partnership with local emergency rooms to respond to the most urgent needs in war-affected areas.
He added that the council will continue supporting community-led initiatives targeting the most vulnerable groups while working to expand the humanitarian response to reach more affected communities and beneficiaries.
