Volunteers in the city of Zalingei, Central Darfur State, organized a psychosocial support session for a group of displaced women as part of ongoing efforts to provide safe spaces for dialogue, the sharing of experiences, and the strengthening of psychological and social resilience in the wake of the conflict.
Zahra Mahmoud, a member of the Kayan Organization for Women’s Empowerment, told Mashaweer that the session featured open discussions on mental health, coping strategies for stress, and the importance of solidarity and mutual support among women, all of which contribute to strengthening resilience and restoring hope.
She added that the Kayan Organization believes that mental health is a fundamental right and that providing safe spaces for women is an important step toward recovery and the building of stronger, more cohesive communities.
Mahmoud noted that such sessions help participants express their experiences and ease the psychological impact of displacement.
For her part, displaced woman Maqboula Suleiman told Mashaweer that the session gave participants an opportunity to share their experiences and express their suffering alongside women facing similar circumstances.
She emphasized that this type of activity helps reduce psychological stress, fosters a sense of support and solidarity among displaced women, and strengthens their ability to cope with the challenges of daily life.
