Heavy Rains Leave 31,000 Displaced People Stranded in Damazin Amid Severe Shortages of Basic Services

More than 31,000 displaced people are sheltering at Al Karama 3 Camp in Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile State, after fleeing intense fighting on several military fronts.
Although residents have endured difficult living conditions in the camp for a prolonged period, their situation has deteriorated significantly following the recent heavy seasonal rains.
Over the past few days, torrential rainfall has affected large parts of the Blue Nile Region, including Al Karama 3 Camp, which has been completely flooded. The inundation has deepened the suffering of displaced families and severely restricted their movement within the camp.
As environmental conditions inside the camp continue to worsen, health risks have increased sharply. The deteriorating sanitation has contributed to the spread of diseases, particularly diarrhea, malaria, and various types of febrile illnesses.
Amid these harsh humanitarian conditions, displaced residents are facing serious difficulties in accessing their most basic needs, including food, safe drinking water, and essential healthcare services.
