U.S. State Department: Ready to Support Inclusive, Civilian-Led Dialogue in Sudan

Washington – Mashaweer

A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department said the United States is ready to work with its partners to support a genuine and inclusive dialogue in Sudan, led by civilians and held at an agreed-upon location.

In statements to Asharq Bloomberg, the spokesperson said, “In partnership with our allies, we have repeatedly put forward proposals for humanitarian truces and a broader peace plan aimed at saving lives.”

The spokesperson explained that “our plan sought to put Sudan on a path toward Sudanese-led political dialogue, lasting peace, and a stable political transition.”

He added that “the responsibility for agreeing to and adhering to a humanitarian truce lies with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).”

He continued: “The Sudanese Army and the RSF must choose peace over war and the suffering it causes.”

He further said, “We are ready to work with partners to support a genuine and inclusive civilian-led dialogue that includes all Sudanese voices, including those currently displaced inside and outside Sudan, and held at an agreed-upon location.”
