The Sudanese Teachers’ Committee today (Monday) warned that it may resume escalation measures if the government pays August salaries without the increase approved by the Council of Ministers and stipulated in directives issued by the Civil Service Affairs Bureau. The committee called for the implementation of the decisions and the payment of all outstanding entitlements in full.
The committee said that “government decisions and official directives stipulated that the salary increase would begin to be implemented in August, while statements by an official at the Ministry of Finance regarding improving teachers’ salaries in 2027 have raised questions about when the current increase will actually be implemented.”
In a statement, the committee said it was monitoring information indicating that there was an intention to pay August salaries without the due increase, stressing its categorical rejection of such a move.
It considered paying salaries without the increase an attempt to circumvent Council of Ministers decisions and directives issued by the Civil Service Affairs Bureau, and a return to the policy of procrastination and delaying the implementation of workers’ rights, despite government commitments to begin implementing the increase this month.
The committee explained that “the Council of Ministers’ decision is now binding, and that the Civil Service Affairs Bureau has issued an executive order and referred it to the relevant authorities.”
It added that “what is required now is to implement the decisions and pay all entitlements in full, rather than seeking new justifications for further delays.”
