Host communities for displaced people on Makasir Island in Sudan’s Northern State discussed the humanitarian conditions of displaced families and ways to strengthen the support provided to them amid difficult living conditions.
Representatives of the Popular Committee of Makasir Island met with Northern State Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Wael Mohamed Sharif to discuss the humanitarian needs of displaced families and the host community.
Hisham Abdel Rahim, a member of the island’s Popular Committee, told Mashaweer that “the meeting addressed the basic needs of affected families, as well as arrangements to provide food baskets to both displaced and host families.”
He explained that “providing food assistance would help strengthen food security and ease the living burdens on the families most in need.”
He called for continued coordination among local and humanitarian actors to ensure that assistance reaches those in need.
