Health and Awareness Activities to Support Displaced Women and Children

El Obeid – Mashaweer

Humanitarian and health activities targeting children and mothers were carried out at a shelter for displaced people in the Al-Ban Jadid area, south of El Obeid in North Kordofan State, as part of efforts by the Patients Aid Fund Organization to respond to the needs of displaced people, particularly the most vulnerable groups.

Volunteers at the shelter distributed special kits to separated and unaccompanied children, as well as children living in vulnerable circumstances. The initiative was part of activities aimed at strengthening child protection and providing support to those most affected by the humanitarian crisis.

Mohannad Salah, a member of the Patients Aid Fund Organization, told Mashaweer that the delegation’s visit to the shelter was part of efforts to monitor the services provided by the organization to displaced people.

He explained that the activities include a mobile clinic, psychological support clinics, psychosocial activities for children, as well as health awareness and educational sessions.

Salah added that attention to children goes beyond providing healthcare and extends to their psychological and social needs, particularly those of children separated from their families and unaccompanied children.

He stressed the importance of continuing these activities given the difficult humanitarian conditions faced by displaced people.

Yasser Mahmoud, a volunteer activist in North Kordofan, told Mashaweer that the activities carried out at the shelter represent important support for displaced people, particularly children who require special care because of displacement and the effects of the war.

Mahmoud explained that psychological support and psychosocial activities for children, together with health awareness programs, help alleviate the psychological and social effects of the crisis.

He called for expanding the scope of humanitarian and health interventions to reach larger numbers of displaced people in shelters across the state.

The shelter also launched activities marking World Breastfeeding Week, providing mothers with awareness and guidance on the importance of breastfeeding and its health benefits for both mothers and children. Small prizes were also distributed to participants to encourage healthy practices and promote the health and well-being of mothers and children.
