BRICS Calls for an End to Sudan Conflict, Warns of Spread of Extremism

The BRICS group of countries on Sunday called for a ceasefire in Sudan and an end to the conflict through peaceful means, while warning of the risks posed by the spread of extremism.
BRICS held its 18th summit in the Indian capital on Saturday and Sunday, where leaders adopted the “New Delhi Declaration 2026,” which focused on strengthening multipolarity, reforming the global financial architecture, condemning terrorism, and protecting global supply chains.
In the declaration, the group’s leaders said: “We call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire and for a peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue in Sudan.”
The leaders expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in Sudan, including the worsening humanitarian crisis and growing risks of the spread of extremism and terrorism.
BRICS is a global economic grouping established in 2009 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, before expanding to include South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries.
The New Delhi Declaration stressed the need to ensure sustainable, urgent, and unhindered humanitarian access to the Sudanese population.
It also called for increased humanitarian assistance to Sudan and neighboring countries.
