Shelter Materials Distributed to Displaced Families in Central Darfur

The Emergency Response Room of Al-Ashlak neighborhood in Zalingei, Central Darfur State, distributed comprehensive shelter materials to 150 displaced and most vulnerable families in the neighborhood, with support and sponsorship from the Central Darfur Emergency Response Rooms Coordination Council.

The distribution was carried out as part of efforts to respond to the humanitarian needs of displaced families and strengthen their ability to cope with harsh weather conditions and fluctuations, particularly among children and older people, who face greater risks due to inadequate shelter conditions.

Al-Zein Issa, a member of the Central Darfur Emergency Response Room, told Mashawir that “the project aims to reduce the impact of harsh weather conditions by providing essential supplies to help beneficiary families improve their shelter conditions and create a safer environment for children and older people.”

Issa stressed “the importance of the role played by emergency response rooms and community-based initiatives in responding to urgent humanitarian needs.”

He noted that “the coordination of local and civil society efforts contributes to filling humanitarian aid gaps and providing essential needs for affected populations.”

He called for “continued support for community-based initiatives and an expansion of humanitarian interventions, amid growing needs and deteriorating living conditions among displaced families and those affected by the war.”
