Food Project Supports Displaced Families in Tawila Camps in Darfur

The Tawila Emergency Response Room in North Darfur State has implemented a community kitchen project targeting newly displaced people at Tawila Al-Omda East Camp, as part of efforts to respond to growing humanitarian needs. The initiative was supported by the Tawila and Jebel Marra Emergency Response Rooms Coordination Council.
Mahjoub Mohamed, a member of the Tawila Emergency Response Room, told Mashawir that “the project targets 200 displaced families by providing meals for ten days, amid the difficult humanitarian conditions and growing basic needs of families who have recently arrived at the camp.”
He explained that “the community kitchen aims to provide a direct food response to the beneficiary families and help ease the living pressures they face amid limited resources and difficulties in securing food.”
He called on humanitarian organizations, partners, and donors to continue and expand their interventions, particularly in food assistance, to address growing gaps, support displaced families, and help meet their basic needs.
