Teachers’ Committee: Including the Word “Koz” in the First-Grade Curriculum Is Not a Passing Mistake

The Sudanese Teachers’ Committee has criticized the inclusion of the word “Koz” as an example for teaching the letter “Kaf” in the Arabic language textbook for first-grade primary school students.

In a statement, the committee described the move as “a return of the Muslim Brotherhood through the school curriculum and a subtle targeting of young children’s awareness,” rather than an isolated mistake made as part of what is described as curriculum development.

The committee called for the immediate withdrawal of the textbook, the dissolution of the Curriculum Committee, and accountability for those responsible at the Bakht Al-Ruda Educational Center.

It stressed that “protecting the curriculum from ideological indoctrination is linked to the struggle to end the war and build a civil state.”
