Mass Displacement from “Umm Badir” Amid Deteriorating Security Situation

Displacement from the Umm Badir area, which is part of Sodari locality in North Kordofan State, has continued amid deteriorating security conditions.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimated that around 3,650 people were displaced from the area between September 20 and 22, against the backdrop of the worsening security situation.
In an urgent alert, the organization’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) said its field teams had observed population movements from Umm Badir toward Sheikan locality in North Kordofan and Omdurman in Khartoum State.
The organization described the situation in the area as tense and highly volatile, confirming that DTM teams would continue monitoring developments, tracking displacement, and documenting population movements.
Umm Badir is located in the southwestern part of Sodari locality in North Kordofan State, near the border with North Darfur State. It is also approximately 320 kilometers west of the capital, Khartoum, and lies in an area where Sudan’s desert and savanna environments intersect.
