Cholera Claims Dozens of Lives in Southern Rural Omdurman

Follow-ups – Mashawir

A cholera outbreak in the southern rural areas of Omdurman has claimed the lives of at least 10 people, with dozens more infected in the Salha area, southwest of Khartoum, amid the complete shutdown of all health centers and pharmacies in the region.

Residents reported that the outbreak is due to the lack of access to clean drinking water and the worsening environmental conditions caused by accumulated garbage and decomposing bodies in the streets.

Stranded locals are forced to drink directly from the Nile River after all wells ceased operation due to ongoing power outages.

Residents also confirmed that two families, comprising eight individuals, died from water poisoning in the Jadin area, south of Salha.
