Collapse of the Health Sector in East Darfur Amid Urgent Appeals to Contain Cholera Outbreak
Follow-ups – Mashawir

The Federal Ministry of Health announced that it successfully contained the cholera outbreak in Khartoum State in record time through significant health interventions and activities.
However, the ministry noted that combating the outbreak in the Kordofan and Darfur regions requires additional efforts.
In its first meeting held in the capital, the Federal Emergency Operations Center reviewed the health situation, epidemic response efforts, and emergency reports from the states of Kassala, Al Jazirah, Khartoum, and Sennar, along with the activities of key partners, including the World Health Organization and the Kuwait Patient Aid Fund.
Meanwhile, the Emergency Room in Abu Jabrah locality, East Darfur State, has appealed to humanitarian organizations, international and regional charities, civil society groups, and medical and volunteer organizations to urgently intervene to combat the rapidly spreading cholera outbreak. The appeal comes amid a near-total collapse of the local healthcare system, a severe shortage of IV fluids, and the absence of essential medical response supplies.
