Sudanese Weather Forecasts of Heavy Rain Spark Fears of Flood Disaster
Reports – Mashawir

The Sudanese Meteorological Authority announced in its bulletin issued on Saturday morning that heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in several states over the next 24 hours, as the Indian monsoon low continues to affect large parts of the country.
The authority indicated that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) passes through the far north of the Red Sea State, Abu Hamed, Wadi Halfa, Dongola, and northern North Darfur State, increasing the likelihood of rainfall in these areas.
The forecasts and the intense start of this rainy season have heightened fears of another looming disaster, compounding the hardships already caused by the ongoing war.
The authority stated that the most significant weather forecasts point to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in northern and central Red Sea State, southeastern and central River Nile State, northeastern and southern Northern State, and West Darfur State.
The Meteorological Authority urged citizens to exercise caution amid heavy rain and dust storms, avoid unnecessary travel in areas affected by thunderstorms, and take preventive measures in dust-prone regions.
