Sudan’s Ministry of Agriculture warns of floods threatening to submerge fields and valleys
Mashaweer – Reports

The Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has warned of massive floods along the Nile belt over the next two days, possibly continuing until Monday evening.
The ministry’s Early Warning Unit issued a red alert, warning of extreme flood risks across Nile-belt states — including Khartoum, White Nile, and River Nile — due to increased water inflows from the Blue and White Nile, and rising levels at monitoring stations in Khartoum, Shendi, Atbara, Berber, and Jebel Aulia.
According to the ministry’s statement, the expected floods pose a serious threat of submerging fields and valleys in the mentioned states.
The ministry urged citizens to exercise caution and take all necessary measures to protect lives and property.
Meanwhile, Acting Khartoum Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza inspected Nile water levels, embankment works, and reinforcement of flood barriers in several vulnerable areas, particularly Tuti Island, and directed authorities to adopt precautionary measures and prepare for urgent interventions if needed.
