Rights Monitor: Security Situation in Al-Jazirah State Is Dangerously Deteriorating Due to the Spread of Weapons

Mashawir – Reports

The Al-Jazirah Human Rights Monitor expressed deep concern over an armed attack carried out by an unidentified force on the village of Umm Duwwana in Al-Hasahisa locality in recent days.

According to the monitor, the force carried out extensive intimidation against residents, including breaking into homes, firing shots into the air, chasing young men, and forcibly shaving the heads of several of them in an attempt to pressure them into joining the armed militias that have been active in the country since the outbreak of the war on April 15, 2023.

The statement noted that the security situation in Al-Jazirah State is witnessing dangerous deterioration due to the widespread presence of weapons and lack of oversight, in addition to the growing activity of armed groups operating outside the legal framework.

Meanwhile, state sources in Al-Jazirah revealed that authorities have contained a dispute between the army’s First Division in Wad Madani, the state capital, and the “Sudan Shield Forces” in the vicinity of the army division’s headquarters.
