United Nations: 9 Million People Remain Displaced Due to Conflict in Sudan

Updates - Mashawir

The United Nations has confirmed that 9.3 million people remain displaced due to conflict across Sudan. Following the passage of 1,000 days of the Sudanese war, more than 4.3 million people have fled across borders. The UN further noted that over 21 million people may face acute food insecurity throughout the country.

Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), stated that clashes continue on multiple fronts in Kordofan. He pointed out that sieges have cut off roads leading to Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan State, and the city of Dilling in the same state. This has severely restricted access to food, healthcare, farmland, and markets.
