The Criminal Investigation Department of Kassala State in eastern Sudan has announced the successful dismantling of a gang specializing in cross-border human smuggling, as well as the arrest of the primary suspect leading the network.
Authorities explained that the operation resulted in the rescue of 85 hostages of various nationalities who were being held illegally. A “double-cabin box” vehicle pickup truck was also seized during the raid.
The report noted that the operation was carried out by joint forces comprising the Police, the Armed Forces, and Intelligence services.
Officials confirmed that humanitarian care is being provided to the hostages, and legal proceedings are underway to bring those involved to justice.
