A group of local doctors reported that a drone strike targeted a mosque in the Kordofan region of central Sudan, killing two children and injuring 13 others at dawn on Wednesday, amid the country’s ongoing civil war.
The “Sudan Doctors Network,” which monitors the conflict, stated that the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—who are fighting the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF), carried out the raid in the city of Al-Rahad in North Kordofan.
Mohamed al-Sheikh, the network’s spokesperson, told the Associated Press that the two children were attending a Quran lesson at dawn.
The network added that targeting children inside mosques represents a dangerous escalation in the pattern of repeated violations against civilians.
Furthermore, a UN source told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that a drone strike targeted a World Food Programme (WFP) warehouse in the famine-stricken Sudanese city of Kadugli.
