Over the past two days, more than 50 people were killed in airstrikes carried out by drones targeting several civilian sites in the Kordofan region. The area is currently witnessing an escalation in mutual attacks between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The town of Um Rasoom, located near the city of Abuzabad in West Kordofan, was subjected to a drone attack targeting a gathering of civilians around a water well. The strike resulted in the death and injury of dozens of women and children.
According to the “Ta’sees” Alliance (which supports the RSF), 28 people were killed and 20 others were injured in an airstrike that targeted a displacement shelter near the Al-Sunut area in the same state.
In a press statement, the Alliance accused the Army of being behind the airstrikes that hit several civilian sites in West Kordofan, causing dozens of casualties, the majority of whom were women and children. The Alliance called on international and local human rights organizations to conduct transparent investigations into these events.
On the other hand, drones belonging to the RSF launched intensive attacks earlier this week on the cities and towns of Kadugli and Dilling in South Kordofan, causing casualties among civilians and damage to their property.
