Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced the termination of its activities in a vital facility south of the capital, Khartoum, which it had supported for three years, noting that it will direct its support to other centers.
The organization said in a statement that it ended its activities at the Shahid Wadaat Allah Primary Healthcare Center in the Jebel Awliya locality of Khartoum State after nearly three years of support that began in June 2023.
It noted that during this period, it provided technical support and medical supplies and rehabilitated the power and water systems in the facility, in addition to making structural improvements to ensure the safe and effective use of the building, proper storage of medicines, and improved patient flow.
MSF revealed the start of its support for the Taiba Al-Kababish health center in southern Khartoum since last January, with plans to expand its activities to additional centers in the coming weeks.
The MSF emergency coordinator in Sudan, Marta Cazorla, said that ending support for a medical facility they accompanied for years is a significant sign of success, as it demonstrates that the organization’s support helped strengthen the structure and lay solid foundations for continuing to provide high-quality services.
