New fires cause the displacement of hundreds of displaced persons in Darfur and Kordofan

Successive fires have caused new displacement for displaced persons in several areas and camps in North Darfur and North Kordofan states, after reaching the gathering points of those fleeing the ravages of armed conflict.

On March 21, a fire broke out at the displaced persons gathering site in Korma, in the El Fasher area of North Darfur, leading to the displacement of dozens of families.

Two days later, a fire broke out in the village of Al-Bunya Al-Zain in the Um Dam Haj Ahmed locality of North Kordofan, leading to the displacement of 30 families.

The affected families were moved to open areas within the same locality, and nearly 30 shelters were destroyed.

On March 20, a fire broke out in the village of Um Baitan in the Kilemandu area of North Darfur, leading to the displacement of 15 families.

On March 22, a fire broke out in the Al-Omda camp for displaced persons in the town of Tawila, North Darfur, leading to the displacement of 971 families.
