Civilians Die from Hunger and Disease in RSF Detention Centre in Nyala

Kordofan – Mashawir

The Kordofan Observatory announced on Monday the deaths of three civilians who were being held by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) at Daqris Prison in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State.

In a statement, the observatory identified the deceased as Muawiya Adam Suleiman Jabara, Hassan Mohamed Abdel Qader, and Adam Hamid Laban, known as “Shuairiya.”

It said the three men were from Ghabaysh Locality in West Kordofan State and had been arrested in July 2025 during a campaign carried out by an RSF-affiliated force, which also detained more than 50 other people.

The observatory explained that the detainees were transferred to Nyala without their families being informed of the reasons for their detention. Their relatives remained unaware of their whereabouts until they received news of their deaths.

The Kordofan Observatory warned that the three deaths were part of a pattern of previously reported incidents at Daqris Prison, including deaths allegedly linked to hunger, disease and torture, according to the statement. It called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the detainees’ deaths and for the actual causes to be established.
